Who we are

This website is Broken Bone Theory, at brokenbonetheory.com. You can reach us at [email protected], and we will supply a postal address on request.

What we collect

Information you give us

If you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, and whatever you write. We use it only to reply to you.

Please do not send personal health information. We are not a healthcare provider and this is not a secure medical channel.

Information collected automatically

Our server records standard technical data when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open, and the site you arrived from. We use it to keep the site working and to understand which articles people find useful.

Analytics

We use Burst Statistics, which runs on our own server rather than sending your data to an advertising company. It sets one first party cookie called burst_uid so repeat visits are not counted twice.

We do not use Google Analytics. We do not run advertising. We do not sell data. Full detail sits in our cookie policy.

Advertising

We run no advertising on this site. We run no advertising, affiliate links or paid referrals on our mental health resources page, and we never will.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal information. Data is handled only by the services that keep this site running: our web host, our email provider, and our own analytics. Google Fonts receives a request from your browser when a page loads, because our typefaces are served from there.

We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Email correspondence is kept for as long as we need it to handle your query, and then up to 24 months. Analytics data is retained for 24 months and then deleted.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to how we use it. Readers in the European Union and the United Kingdom have these rights under the GDPR. Readers in California have similar rights under the CCPA.

To make a request, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

We link to crisis services, medical organisations and news coverage. Once you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for how other sites handle your data.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS and protected by a security plugin. We take reasonable steps to protect what we hold. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not send us anything sensitive.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on the page.
